Every Ohioan knows the bite of the cold winter temperatures, but can also appreciate the magical aura of a fresh snowfall.  As the winter weather sets in, I find myself in a constant internal debate whether to curl up with a book and a mug of hot cocoa or enjoy the frosty climate while it’s here.  Whether it’s the heat you seek, or the cold you crave, you can find it here in Dublin.

Turn up the heat with these hot spots:

TehKu Tea – Wrap your hands around a warm mug of tea and a cup of soup at this cozy tea shop in Historic Dublin.  Personally, I cannot wait to try one of their new hot bubble teas.  They also have these new double insulated to-go mugs that will keep your beverage hot for hours - perfect for when you are running around doing your holiday shopping!

The Woodhouse Day Spa – Is the icy weather making you tense? Relax at Woodhouse, voted the Best Day Spa in Columbus for the past three years!  (Might also make a great gift idea).

Firehouse Subs – You may just have to call the fire department when you order a hot submarine from this fast casual joint.

Dublin Village Tavern – Like spicy food?  Taste the chowder at the Tavern.  This potato, ham and cheese soup is topped with jalapenos, and is sure to set your mouth on fire!

Chill out at one of these attractions:

Chiller Ice Rink – Channel your inner Michelle Kwan or Sidney Crosby (one can dream, right?).  Bring your own skates or rent a pair, and hit the ice!

Wildlights at the Columbus Zoo – What better way to brighten your holiday season than with 3 million twinkling lights, two animated light shows, the Polar Bear Express, a giant snow globe, and camel rides.  Oh, and did I mention Santa will be there?

Mad River Mountain – I cannot wait to hit the slopes at this resort again this year.  Even if skiing and snowboarding aren’t your thing, Mad River has tubing hills and The Loft Bar offers food, drink, and live music and entertainment every Saturday night.

Graeters and Menchies – If you’re like me, it’s never too cold for ice cream.  Savor a sundae from Graeters or fix up a cup of froyo at Menchies.
