Looking for some fun weekend trips to keep your kids busy over summer break? Look no further than Dublin, Ohio! Below are three local favorite summer activities that you and your family won’t want to miss:
An annual Dublin tradition, the Frog Jump & Festival is right around the corner on June 25. More than 5,000 spectators and ‘frog jockeys’ are expected to attend this year’s races. There are several age groups for kids to participate in the frog race and other activities onsite, including inflatable rides, games and food. All proceeds from the festival benefit local charities.
Dublin is home to the world-renowned Columbus Zoo & Aquarium, which boasts more than 10,000 animals in six distinct regions, including the newest and largest region – The Heart of Africa. In this distinct, 43-acre region, you can see zebras graze and gazelles leap, and you can even feed giraffes! The zoo is an attraction in and of itself, so you’ll definitely need a full day (maybe even two!) to experience the entire zoo. While you’re there, don’t miss visiting the zoo’s youngest family member – adorable baby polar bear, Nora!
You and your family can get back to nature at the scenic Glacier Ridge Metro Park, which offers four easy-to-navigate trails and a disc golf course. Glacier Ridge also includes a 25-foot observation tower where you can watch waterfowl and other animals. This unique Metro Park is a perfect spot for a quiet picnic lunch or a leisurely walk on a nature trail.
